Written July 16, 2014

I've recently begun making my popular stamped earrings in 14K Yellow Gold. They are warm and luxurious. Each pair is different since I individually stamp each marking with handmade steel stamps.

I've made some fun souvenirs for all of you outdoors fans. Backpackers, hikers, bicyclists, bikers, peak baggers....These medallions are in sterling silver or bronze and I've started with a few choices: Gannett Peak, Fremont Peak, Cirque of the Towers, Wind River Range, Wyoming, and Wyoming Cowgirl. Is there a peak you've climbed and want to remember? I can customize one special for you.

Here Comes Summer!

May 27, 2014

Summer is fast approaching. Life in Pinedale, Wyoming goes from winter to summer in an instant, it was snowing 2 weeks ago and now it's in the 70's, the grass is getting green and already needs to be cut. Our corner of the USA is heaven on Earth in the summertime, wilderness and wildlife abound and the sky is huge and blue.

Gems Gems and More Gems

Written February 13, 2014

I just returned from Tucson, Arizona where I was taking gemology courses and visiting some of the gem shows. There are about 40 gem, rock, fossil and mineral shows going on during a two-week period each February and the offerings go from $1 pebbles to super high dollar gemstones, not to mention a T-Rex skeleton!

Happy 2014, the number 14 didn't have much significance to me but I heard somebody say that it is doubly lucky because it is the number 7 x 2. Also, my husband said it would be a great year to hike a "14er", one of the peaks in Colorado that is over 14,000 ft, we'll see if we have the chance to make it down there.

Handmade Findings

Written September 24, 2013

To customize the jewelry that I make, I usually handmake the "findings". Findings are what jewelers call clasps, ear wires, pin backs, etc. Basically the hardware of the piece of jewelry. Most of my beaded necklaces and some of my silver chains have a simple sterling silver hook and loop. I like these because they are unusual while being secure.

Gemology

Written September 13, 2013

I have begun to work towards becoming a certified gemologist through the GIA, Gemological Institute of America. It will take a couple of years, especially since I will continue to work full time. So far it is very interesting for me, I just passed the final exam for my first intro course to colored stones. Besides colored stones, I will study diamonds and pearls.
